Building Lasers, Building Careers

Xcimer runs a competitive internship program open to enrolled students or recent graduates. Our interns work alongside our scientists and engineers on projects such as computational simulations, optical code development, optical design, mechanical design, pulsed power engineering, hardware testing, and materials analysis.

OUR PROGRAM

Our internship program experienced mentorship, cross functional engagement, group outings, team field trips, and complimentary lunches at the headquarters.

All our internships are paid and include housing and relocation stipends for students who live outside of the Denver area. We generally hire 13 summer interns for 12 weeks, and we have smaller cohorts in the spring and fall.

OUR INTERNS

Our interns are enrolled students or recent graduates accepted into a master’s or Ph.D. program in physics, engineering, or related fields.

We bring back a significant percentage of our interns for subsequent summers – and we often hire interns for full-time jobs after graduation.

  • IN THEIR WORDS

“Xcimer showed me what a mission-driven team looks like – and how to advance clean, limitless energy with mentors who are pushing the field forward every day.”

Ava Miller, Summer 2025 Engineering Intern

  • IN THEIR WORDS

“Xcimer gave me the chance to work alongside experts in inertial confinement fusion and shock physics, learning new physics while applying my engineering skills on work that matters.”

Kyle Keipper, University of Michigan, Summer 2025 Engineering Intern

  • IN THEIR WORDS

“Through a Pulsed Power Engineering internship, I designed, prototyped, and tested real systems, while building a tight cohort and exploring the Rockies on weekends.”

Charles “Chip” Peterson, University of Michigan, Summer 2025 Pulsed Power Engineering Intern
