Build our lasers to build your career.
Interns are crucial members of our team. Our interns work alongside our scientists and engineers on mission-critical projects such as computational simulations, optical code development, hardware testing, and materials analysis.
Our program:
We run a highly competitive internship program. We offer mentorship, group outings, team field trips, and complimentary lunches at the headquarters. All our internships are paid and include housing and relocation stipends for students who live away from the Denver area. We generally hire summer interns for 12 weeks, and we have smaller cohorts in the spring and fall.

Our interns:
Our internships are open to enrolled students or recent graduates accepted into a master’s or Ph.D. program in physics, engineering, or related fields.
We bring back many of our interns for subsequent summers, and we often promote interns for full-time roles after graduation.
In their own words
Our interns are crucial team members. Here’s what they say about Xcimer:
Kyle Keipper
University of Michigan, Summer 2025 Engineering Intern
“Xcimer gave me the chance to work alongside experts in inertial confinement fusion and shock physics, learning new physics while applying my engineering skills on work that matters.”

Charles “Chip” Peterson
University of Michigan, Summer 2025 Pulsed Power Engineering Intern
“Through a Pulsed Power Engineering internship, I designed, prototyped, and tested real systems, while building a tight cohort and exploring the Rockies on weekends.”

Ava Miller
Summer 2025 Engineering Intern
“Xcimer showed me what a mission-driven team looks like – and how to advance clean, limitless energy with mentors who are pushing the field forward every day.”
